Thank you for taking a few minutes to read more. As a second generation broker, I grew up around a family real estate business. I’m a full-time broker and resident of Amelia Island and am one of the shrinking number of true island natives. My family originally came to the island in 1939 and I’ve been living on the island for most of the last 50 years.
Growing up around the family business, I literally held open house signs for some of the local developments and can remember doing maintenance for rental properties from a young age. My adult involvement in the industry and first license was in the early 80’s…I believe with “Bert Rodgers“, followed by “Florida Real Estate Institute” with Ron Boatwright. In the 90’s, for a few years, I also worked as a Mortgage Broker and later decided to sit for a Contractor’s License (still current, but inactive). A little of my education includes GRI®, e-PRO®, TRC® and a Business Degree from Stetson University in Florida.
Additional community involvement includes a number of years coaching Babe Ruth. Time with my wife and two sons is important to me and I understand the need to remember life/work balance. In 2012 and the following three years, I served on the City Commission, with two terms as Mayor of the City of Fernandina Beach. During this time, I was also a member of several local boards. These included the Juvenile Justice Council, Northeast Florida Regional Planning and the Nassau County Economic Development Board. All positions were important to the community and I felt privileged to learn and to give back to the community. Currently, I am still involved with the Main Street efforts and meet monthly as a part of one working group. Causes important to me are the environment, environmentally sustainable living, green living and green construction techniques.
Communication is key to this industry. I use traditional means of commication like the phone, but make a point of looking for “current” trends like social media or blogs. I self publish this blog at www.edboner.com, but I also have a significant presence on social media. In the last two years, reading current news became important and the daily reading I save has a following of more than 1000 on a Real Estate Trend, the Flipboard Magazine. I use creative advertising to reach clients and often will target specific kinds of interests to reach the right audience. Text, email and 24 hour a day forwarded office lines, make me one of the most accessible agents I know. I prefer electronic contracts and signatures, whenever possible and keep all files on a cloud drive, accessible from laptop, tablet or phone.
Every client hopes to work with a qualified broker, when buying or selling a property. Telling you a little about my life in Northeast Florida and sharing my story, is a nice way to move past the initial hurdles, while showcasing the importance of local knowledge.
I want you to have a great experience. If you’re considering Amelia Island or the surrounding area, give me a call.
